Foursquare

The Foursquare Rum Distillery is owned by R.L. Seale & Co, a family company with a traceable history of rum making in Barbados dating back to 1820. The modern company was established in the 1920s when Reginald Leon Seale set up a distribution business in Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados.

The company's success led to expansion, and over the course of the latter half of the 20th century, it acquired brands such as ESA Fields and Doorly's, adding them to its portfolio. In 1995, the Foursquare distillery was opened, converting an abandoned sugar factory in the Saint Philip parish. The distillery operates with a double retort pot still and a three-column continuous still, and its first spirit was produced in 1996.

Foursquare specializes in producing Single Blended rum, which involves combining its pot and column distillates both before and after they are barrelled. Under the direction of Sir David Seale and his son, Richard, Foursquare has become one of the most revered rum producers in the world. Additionally, Foursquare has established a noteworthy collaboration with Velier, a renowned spirits company. The partnership between Foursquare and Velier has resulted in the release of exceptional limited editions of their rums.

Examples of this collaboration include the highly sought-after Foursquare Velier releases such as Foursquare Rum 2006, 2007, and 2008. These special editions have garnered significant attention and praise from rum enthusiasts worldwide for their exceptional quality and unique flavor profiles. The collaborations between these two renowned entities have truly showcased the expertise and craftsmanship, solidifying their position as leaders in the rum industry and producing some of the best Foursquare rum expressions.
