A monumental bottling from Cadenhead’s, this Uitvlugt 1964/2000 stands among the most revered rums ever released from Guyana. Distilled in 1964 at the historic Uitvlugt Distillery and aged for an extraordinary 36 years, it was drawn and bottled at its natural cask strength - a staggering 70% ABV - making it one of the most powerful aged Demerara rums in existence.

This release captures the very essence of long-aged Demerara: deep molasses richness, treacle, licorice, and dark dried fruits, layered with resinous oak and a muscular intensity preserved by its remarkable strength. Only a handful of such casks were ever released, and today this bottle stands as a crown jewel in both rum and whisky collections.

About the Distillery

The Uitvlugt Distillery, founded in the 18th century on the banks of the Demerara River, was home to some of the most iconic stills in rum history, including wooden continuous and heritage pot stills. Known for producing bold, aromatic, and intensely flavorful rums, Uitvlugt was closed in 2000, with its historic stills relocated to Diamond Distillery. Bottlings from Uitvlugt are now exceedingly rare, and this 1964 vintage represents one of its most legendary legacies.
