Cadenhead’s Uitvlugt 1964/2001 – 36yo Guyanese Rum
An extraordinary relic of rum history, the Cadenhead’s Uitvlugt 1964/2001 represents one of the oldest and most powerful Demerara rums ever bottled. Distilled in 1964 at the legendary Uitvlugt Distillery in Guyana and matured for an astonishing 36 years, this single cask expression was released by Cadenhead’s at natural cask strength - an awe-inspiring 69.3% ABV.
This rare bottling embodies the unmistakable intensity of Demerara rum: deeply concentrated, complex, and brimming with dark tropical fruits, licorice, molasses, and resinous wood. Its age has imparted layers of richness and elegance, while its high strength preserves the raw, untamed spirit of its origin. With very few bottles ever released, this is a true collector’s gem, commanding reverence among connoisseurs worldwide.

About the Distillery
The Uitvlugt Distillery, located on the west bank of the Demerara River, was established in the 18th century and became one of Guyana’s most important rum producers. Known for its wooden continuous stills and heritage pot stills, Uitvlugt produced rums of great character and distinction until its closure in 2000, when operations were consolidated at Diamond Distillery. Today, surviving bottlings from Uitvlugt are highly prized pieces of rum history - none more so than this legendary 1964 vintage.
