Founded in 1923 alongside the sugar cane plantation, the Caroni Distillery in Trinidad produced rum until its closure in 2002. With a rich history, it underwent various changes in distillation equipment over the years. From a Cask Iron Still to a Wooden Coffey Still, it transitioned to a Single Column Still in 1957, later a Four Column Gerb Herman Still in 1980, and finally, Twin Column Stills in 1984. The closure in 2002 impacted thousands, nearly causing a crisis.
