From the heart of Bas Armagnac, this Armagnac Garreau 1967 is a poetic embodiment of time and tradition. Distilled from Ugni Blanc and Baco grapes with an Alambic Armagnacais, it captures the essence of its terroir. The spirit‘s journey, spanning over five decades, began in the embrace of Gascon oak barrels, nestled in a damp cellar. As years passed, it was cradled into a dry warehouse, allowing ist character to deepen and flourish.
Each bottle is a rare gem, free from additives, preserving the pure soul of the region. The nose is greeted with an intricate basket of nuts, the sweetness of demerara sugar, the boldness of cigar tobacco, and the luxury of precious woods, all crowned with a delicate bouquet of spring flowers. This leads to a palate where balance reigns supreme – a luscious dance of nut chocolate, tobacco, and stewed fruits, culminating in an endless finish. Each sip is a moment of lust for the senses.
A series with a benchmark bottling from each spirit category. All spirit lovers at one table with synergies and cross effects. Provocative and opulent labeldesign never seen before.
A family-owned business, located in theheart of Bas-Armagnac near the magnificent medieval town from the 13th century, Labastide d’Armagnac, managed by Carole Garreau, representing the fourth generation. The vineyard was established in 1919 by her great-grandfather. Currently, Château Garreau, also known as the Gayrosse estate, stretches over more than 82 hectares and spans the departments of Landes and Gers, featuring the so-called “pale sands” (sable fauves), highly prized by Armagnac producers. Some parts of the land consist of oak forests and ponds, with 27 hectares dedicated to Armagnac vineyards. The family owns over a century-old cellar where barrels of eau-de-vie are stored. They possess two old stills, dating back to 1919 and 1932.
Château Garreau also houses a small museum, Ecomusée de l’Armagnac, showcasing old machinery and a collection of vintage bottles. They produce Blanche Armagnac, floc de Gascogne, and boast a very rich selection of Armagnacs – blends and vintages, with the oldest dating back to 1982.
