A unique single cask whisky from Hanyu distillery.
Hanyu 1988/2006 56% cask#9003 Single Malt King of Diamonds was distilled in 1988 and initially aged in a hogshead before receiving a finishing touch in an American Oak Sherry Butt. Hanyu 1988 Ichiro’s Malt ‘Card’ #9003 King of Diamonds was filled in 2006.

In 2000, production at the Hanyu distillery ceased, leading to a surge in popularity for its single malts within Japan. Ichiro Akuto, spearheading Venture Whisky, obtained the remaining casks after the distillery’s closure due to economic difficulties. The introduction of Ichiro’s Malt single casks in 2005 marked a significant milestone. Although Akuto’s contributions extend to the Chichibu distillery, his pinnacle achievement lies in the Hanyu ‘Card’ series – comprising 58 releases adorned with playing card labels, revered as prized collector’s items that leave an indelible mark on the history of Japanese whisky.
