Karuizawa, known for its exceptional whiskies, has gained worldwide recognition for its impressive range. Their collection of nearly 300 single casks is becoming increasingly scarce due to soaring demand. This particular limited edition was distilled in 1981 and matured for an impressive 35 years before being bottled in 2016. Crafted from a single sherry cask, specifically #266, this batch resulted in a mere 102 bottles. Bottled at cask strength, this release is part of a two-part series called the Battle of Kawanakajima releases. The Battle of Kawanakajima holds significance in classical Japanese literature and has inspired various artworks, including the captivating label created by Utagawa Hiroshige, an esteemed Edo era painter. The whisky is presented in an exquisite lock and key presentation box, adding to its overall allure.
