Karuizawa 29 Year Old Single Cask #8897
Aged for 29 years in a bourbon cask, this single malt whisky is a rare gem from the legendary Karuizawa distillery. Situated near Mount Asama, an active volcano in Japan, the distillery began operations in 1956 under Daikoku Budoshu. It used Golden Promise barley and was known for maturing its spirit in sherry casks, which contributed to its rich and robust character.
By the early 2000s, changing consumer preferences led to Karuizawa's closure, making its remaining stocks exceptionally collectible. The distillery was demolished in 2016, but its legacy lives on through exclusive bottlings like this one.
